Of all the various justifications offered by our overlords and their apologists as to why it is they should be allowed to enjoy unimaginable amounts of wealth, while the vast majority of us get by on little or nothing, one of my favourites is the theory of "TRICKLE-DOWN". The idea that if we just let the rich go on getting richer and richer, eventually, in time (they're always a bit sketchy on exactly how long), the wealth will "trickle-down" to the poorer amongst us. It's an idea that's probably been around for as long as class society and this is a song about it.
lyrics
Trickledown Lies
Times, I get asked for spare change, on these streets paved with gold
by the hungry and cold.
There are buildings aplenty, and so many stand empty, yet the people are homeless
It makes me want to tear, tear their tongues out, when they say "Oh, but the wealth will trickle down"
It's a trick. To keep us down. Trickledown la la la lies
Times, we see people broken, hear, desperate, dying words spoken, on our TV screens
Screams that come forth many, little children the victims of war. What are they dying for? Your bullshit.
If selling weapons is how you get rich, it ain't wealth trickles, you son of a bitch, it's the blood on your hands
It makes me want to tear, tear their lungs out, when they say "Ah but the wealth will trickle down"
Trick. To keep us down. Trickledown la la la lies
Time, for a changing, a rearranging of the shape of things
Now, for you heeded no warning, you'll see a new day dawning, and you'll wish you weren't around.
Watch your world crumble, watch it reel and crumble and feel
More than your wealth trickle down
